The Modern Recordist podcast EP: 029 – The vulnerability of creating and releasing music, and taking artistic risks with The Hollywood Kills

The Modern Recordist Podcast EP: 029

This week I hang out with the Nashville indie rock band, The Hollywood Kills. It’s a little bit of a longer episode, and we switched things up a bit, and we had a ton of fun cracking the code on pretty much everything ;-)

Listen Now!

On this episode, I get into an in-depth discussion with The Hollywood Kills, about what it’s like to stick your neck out, take risks, and embrace fear when creating music. It’s a vulnerable thing to make music, and often times the fear can keep people from actually releasing their work.

The band also shares how they draw inspiration from popular TV shows, such as “Breaking Bad” and how those kinds of things play a part in influencing their writing. Clocking in at almost two hours (!), we discuss TONS of stuff as it relates to being a modern recordist.

We did things a little different for this episode, coming to you out of my buddy, Cliff Goldmacher’s studio. Cliff is a producer/engineer/songwriter, that also runs a unique operation called Nashville Studio Live from his studios in Sonoma, CA and Nashville, TN.

Nashville Studio Live utilizes very forward-thinking remote recording practices, so that you can have A-list session player musicians and singers lend their talent and attention to your songs. I also happen to be one of the main engineers for Nashville Studio Live.

Special thanks to Cliff Goldmacher for letting us use his Nashville Studio for this episode of The Modern Recordist.
